- Update and further develop our planning and progression pathways for numeracy and maths. Embed the last session’s progress on our literacy progression pathways, particularly writing, into our planning and assessment formats.

End of the Year 2023-2024
We would like to wish everyone a wonderful Summer Holiday. We will reopen to pupils on Wednesday 21st August 2024.

Protected: Song for Dunscore 60th Anniversary Video
Our 60th Anniversary School Song
During term 1, Emily helped us create a song to celebrate the school’s 60th Anniversary in it’s current building. Last week Emily and Claudia helped us record the song to share with everyone. We hope you like it!
Where did our Wee Brew money go this year?
Miss Atkins shared with us today that the money went to Mantchombe School.
They decided to spend the money on solar panels so that they can study at night time.
Assembly with MOOL (Massive Outpouring of Love)
Today Louise from MOOL spoke to us during assembly about the work of MOOL within Dumfries and Galloway supporting refugees. This linked to our right of the month (Article 10/22 – Contact with Parents and Refugee Children). She was joined by Sarab and her son Naeem, who are refugees from Syria. Their stories were very thought proving and helps us understand what it’s like to be a refugee. A huge thank you to Louise, Sarab and Naeem for taking the time to visit us this morning and share their stories.
STEM AMBASSADOR VISIT TO P3/4
P3/4 were visited today by two STEM Ambassador from the University of Edinburgh called Alex and Amber. They helped us to programme using the Micro:bits. We created Data Monsters which could tell us the temperature.
STEM – Lego Spike with Mrs Hall
P3/4 have been learning to solve design problems with Lego and programming using Lego Spike kits with Mrs Hall from the DG STEM Team.
P3/4 Making Fruit Kebabs
P3/4 were learning about the importance of personal hygiene and kitchen safety as part of Health and Wellbeing. They demonstrated their learning though making fruit kebabs. Next they created written instructions in writing.
P7 Residential Trip to Dumfries House
Primary 7s from Dunscore, Moniaive and Duncow went to Dumfries House for a joint residential trip, for 3 days and 2 nights. They enjoyed team building activities, a farm tour, a mud trail, a campfire, climbing wall, archery, embroidery, STEM activities, time in the play parks and a house tour.
