GIRFEC – resources for families

Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC) is a way of working with children, young people and their families in Scotland that aims to support children’s wellbeing. GIRFEC involves offering support to children, young people and families at the earliest opportunity, before problems develop, or get worse.

Some children and young people might need additional support from several different services. When this is the case, children should only have one Child’s Plan and one set of meetings. The plan should contain all the actions that each service is going to deliver. All the services involved should work together with the child/young person at the centre of all activity – families shouldn’t have to keep telling their story over and over to lots of different practitioners.
