Open Day on Tuesday 4th February

Instead of having an achievement assembly this term, we have decided to have an open day where parents and guardians are invited in to school to experience learning through the eyes of their children.  This will give you the chance to get a flavour of what it is like to be in Crossmichael Primary School.  You can observe and join in with lessons.  Please contact the school office via email to let us know which slot you wish to attend- 08:55-10:30, 10:50-12:30 or 13:15-14:55.  We look forward to seeing you then.

Scottish Poems

Pupils are learning Scottish Poetry as part of the curriculum.  Please help your child to practise their poem and learn it off by heart.  We are focusing on fluency, expression and actions to make our performances even better.

Mrs Wilson’s Collection

Mrs Wilson will be leaving the school over the Christmas holidays.   I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her input at Crossmichael and Gelston Primary Schools.  To recognise her contribution to the school over the years, we will be having a collection for her.  Please send donations to the school office by Tuesday 17th December so that we can present her with a gift at our Christmas Service in the Church on Friday 20th December.

In January, P1-3 will continue to have Mrs Glover on a Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri with Mrs Christie teaching on a Thurs.  I will ensure minimal disruption to learning until a new member of staff is appointed.

Stewartry Dance Competition – Tuesday 10th Dec from 10am-12pm

We wish our dancers well as they participate in the Stewartry Dance Competition tomorrow in Castle Douglas Town Hall.

Head Lice

Often children will catch head lice.  It can be distressing for children and parents/ guardians but it is easily treatable.  Advice can be found on the NHS website using this link: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/head-lice-and-nits/ .  It is worth noting that regular wet combing of conditioned hair, using a nit comb, should help to eradicate the nits and lice.  In the new year, I would be happy to arrange a workshop with the School Nurse for any interested parents/ guardians.
