All the pupils at Brownhall have been learning some Scots poetry to celebrate the life and work of Robert Burns. Staff had the very hard task of choosing one winner from each stage. Ella, Olivia, Euan, Blair, Andrew, Flynn and Fraser were the overall winners. Each pupil received a lovely watch with a tartan strap.  Isla, Grace, Braidyn, Tyler, Jamie H, Euan Mc and Scott were all Highly Commended and received a certificate. The winners recited their poems to the rest of the school at assembly. Well done to all the pupils!

P1/2 performed the Nativity at the Christmas Service at the Crichton Church on Tuesday 19th December. P3/4 and P5/6/7 assisted with the singing of songs and narrating the story of the Nativity. Daisie read a verse from the Bible and Liam read a Christmas Prayer encouraging everyone to think about those less fortunate than ourselves at Christmas time. Community singing of old favourites Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Little Donkey, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and We Wish You a Merry Christmas closed the service.

MSP Visit

On Monday 18th December Mr Oliver Mundell MSP visited Brownhall for a Q&A session with the P5/6/7 class. Prior to his visit the pupils prepared a set of questions for Mr Mundell to answer on his role as MSP for Dumfriesshire. The pupils then used their notes from the Q&A session to write a report of his visit and his job as an MSP.
