Both schools celebrated World Book Day on the 4th of March and carried out many book-related tasks, including reading stories to each other, hearing our Head Teacher’s daily story, measuring heights with books, making bookmarks, Masked Reader quiz and reading in unusual places! some P4-7 children also read a story from home via Teams to the P1-3 class in Borgue, which was lovely!
World Book Day vouchers will be coming home with pupils and in home learning packs, ready for the 4th of March- we had extra this time so each child will get 4!
Look out for activities happening in school/on home learning grids…
Please see the flyer below about sharing your home learning or a video of you reading a bedtime story via Facebook messenger to Dumfries and Galloway Libraries.
We would like to thank all our pupils and parents for their hard work these past few weeks, and for the work you have all handed in. We know it is not easy to work from home and we are very proud of our Auchencairn and Borgue children. It is now time for you all to have a well earned rest and a week off school!
We are hopeful that P1-3 will be in school from the 22nd of February, but we await the Government’s decision on this.
Our super children have been featured in this week’s Galloway News, highlighting their dedication to home learning. We thank them for their efforts in completing these tasks and we are delighted to see their cheery faces, we miss you all!
Many thanks also to Ms McCall for her hard work in collating and sending in the photos to the newspaper.
Today is the birthday of the Scottish Bard, Rabbie Burns who was born on the 25th of January 1759 in Alloway. He died in Dumfries, at the age of only 37.
Scottish children have been learning about the legacy of Burns for many years and teachers have added some Scottish tasks to their learning grids this week.
Here are some links to a few more activities if your child would like to know more…
Unfortunately, Microsoft have confirmed intermittent issues across UK this morning in accessing Teams. This is affecting some of our Glow users. They are actively resolving the issue and will report back as soon as possible. This is intermittent, so you can try again later this morning or this afternoon.
You can still access the timetables via the Home Learning January 2021 tab on this blog.
