P6/7 have been developing their leadership skills with Active Schools and are putting these skills to use, coaching and encouraging P1-3 in some outdoor PE activities.

Well done to our Infants, Junior and Senior trophy winners – Matilda, Iona and Toby, who were delighted to be champions in their categories during Sports Day!
Borgue P4-7 took part in World Oceans Day today. We watched a live assembly and then looked at the theme of this year- Life and Livelihood . We understood the importance of fishing but also over fishing and by products . We then watched a live presentation on the importance of sharks and although this was a little tricky to understand we found out that sharks are so important, to keep the seas and oceans balanced and diverse.

Due to the current restrictions, sports day was a little different this year without any of our wider family community able to attend. However, the pupils had a great time at their sports day last week before the rain came and we would like to share a video of the afternoon. Lots of happy smiling faces!
Week 3 of Forest Fun was all about plants and trees. We did tree rubbings, used identification keys, played matching games and also our favourite warm up game…Eagle Eye!

Mrs Graham also read us a story called “Jim and the Beanstalk” which was really funny! The giant got knew teeth, glasses and hair from Jim and then pretended he was going to eat him! Luckily Jim escaped home.

Both schools have been visiting their local woods this week for a block of outdoor learning that we like to call Friday Forest Fun! We will be doing lots of different outdoor activities to develop skills in team building, cooperation, resilience and confidence. Above all, we will have FUN!

Auchencairn
Borgue
Another super week of hard work from everyone in Auchencairn and Borgue. We really enjoy celebrating the pupils’ successes in assembly each week and sharing in their achievements, which highlight the four capacites – successful learners, responsible citizens, effective contributors and confident individuals.
In Auchencairn we had Bertie for working hard when learning about money , Daisy for trying really hard with new concepts in maths and great effort in writing , and Toby last week for his superb effort and attention to detail when making his Titanic mini gymnasium model as well as being a great team leader and super mathematician . Well done all!
In Borgue we had Samson for listening well and setting a good example to others, and Lily for her excellent effort in reading! Great job!
