P5D Circuits Open Afternoon

Primary 5D enjoyed being Circuit Scientists and had a very successful Open Afternoon on Tuesday 9 October. Families had great fun playing all our Electrical Circuit games. Everyone was amazed at our investigation which used fruit and vegetables to make a digital clock work. We proudly showed our E-books from this term. Mrs Dyson was extremely pleased with all our hard work.

P5M Open afternoon

At the end of the term we invited our families to look at the work we have been doing this term. We introduced them to our information wall which was a great research tool for us. Our jigsaw challenge took a long time however the end result proved to be excellent and our guests were suitably impressed. We showed we could work well as a team during the poster challenge and choosing an overall winner was extremely difficult.During active maths we had to demonstrate that we could measure accuratelyso that our Titanic frieze was the correct size. We also worked on co-ordinates and grid references and our display in the corridor proved popular. We have several missions to complete and hope to have another open afternoon to celebrate the end of our topic.

P4 Viking Longships!

P4K had a homework challenge to build a Viking longship using materials of their choice. The quality of the finished products was outstanding. It was very hard for Miss Kirkpatrick to pick a winner so the parents helped by voting for their favourite lonship on the open afternoon. Angus was our winner, Jacinta and Gemma were the runners up. The children loved this challenge and a lot of them enjoyed working together with their parents!!

Harvest Assembly

Our Harvest Assembly then focused on the vegetables with a fun sketch by Miss Carrot and Mrs Potato, played by Caitlin and Anna. The gardening club provided a short presentation before we sung a fun song about carrots and potatoes, with guitar accompaniement from Louie and Erin. The Primary 6 pupils then reminded us of the more serious side of countries whose harvest is not so abundant through a powerpoint presentation about Fairtrade. AS representative for the Mona Youth project, which provides aid in Malawi, was also present. The money raised from our harvest week was split between The Mona Youth Project and Fairtrade.
