Nursery Polar Areas Topic- February 2013

Our Polar Areas topic was a huge success! The children learned so much about penguins and polar bears!

The children enjoyed playing with a range of equipment to develop their understanding of polar areas.  They had fun exploring ice in the water tray and playing in the snow. They have been playing with an ice breaker ship in the small world area and they have been using polar animals in the igloo! The children also had visitors who told us all about their trips to the Arctic and Antarctica. It has been a fabulous learning experience for the children.

The children used plastic eggs to create 3D penguins!
The children were able to imagine what life might be like for polar animals through the use of the puppets.
The children learned about solids and liquids when they made icing for the “frosty” cakes!
Look at our fabulous igloo! The children loved this!
We explored the ice and used ‘scientific’ vocabulary to describe the changes that took place.
