Our Learning 02.10.20

This week was Maths Week so we’ve been very busy learning all about different maths skills. We learned about strategy games and thinking ahead to make a plan and we created symmetrical patterns outside. We played games against each other to practise. We also learned about engineering and built bridges as well as budgeting when we designed our own theme parks. Some of us also entered a Scottish Maths competition. Fingers crossed!

In literacy we learned about Cinquain poems and when we were finished them we typed them on the laptops instead of writing them. It was fun!

We also learned about magnetic forces in our IDL lessons and created our own Superhero magnet scenes where the hero flew around. It was so funny!

It’s been a busy term and we’re really looking forward to our holidays. But we’re also looking forward to learning even more next term! Enjoy the holidays everyone 🙂

Our Learning 25.9.20

Well it’s been another busy week with us in P4/5!

In literacy we have been planning our own list poem, which we will write next week. We have also been enjoying some reading time. We are all thinking about what kind of things we like to read and Mrs Simpson is helping us find them.

In PE we have been developing our throwing and catching skills and we have been working on our teamwork. We had to support each other when we couldn’t see where we were going! We also worked together to create new games for others to play.

In numeracy we have been working on subtracting and different strategies that can help us.

In Health and Wellbeing, we had great fun trying to show emotions in our face – especially when we are wearing masks!

What a great week. Only one more to go until the holidays!

Our Learning 18.9.20

What a busy week we’ve had!

Congratulations to Cassia, this week’s star pupil.

We have been reading a new kind of poem called a list poem. The poem is called The Box. In numeracy we are using our place value knowledge to use our addition strategies.

We have been working on our teamwork skills and had great fun working together to carry a ball across the playground on sticks!

In PE we have been practising our throwing and catching skills.

In IDL we built superhero lairs! We can’t wait to see what happens next week!

Our Learning 11.9.20

This week we have been busy learning more about rounding and estimating answers in numeracy. We are also working on telling the time independently.

We said a sad farewell to Poppy at the start of the week. We will miss her loads but we hope she has a great time at her new school.

We are working hard on our reading skills, reading independently and trying to find books that interest us so we can enjoy reading.

We also created nature faces during our outdoor learning – don’t they lok great?

Our Learning 4.9.20

In Health and Wellbeing we talked about how music can affect our feelings and Mrs Simpson let us listen to some of the 80s songs that make her happy! We also learned about the Invisible String that keeps us connected to the people we love. In PE we have been practising our ball control, rolling and throwing the ball to each other.

In Numeracy we have been reminding ourselves about place value and have started rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 or 1,000.  In Literacy we have been working on positive, adventurous adjectives. We even thought of some nice adjectives to describe each other. We also started working on having positive conversations with each other. We can’t wait to learn even more next week!

Our Learning

It’s been a very emotional week for us as we said goodbye to Tyler this week 😢

We’ve also been very busy working on place value and we enjoyed using objects to show large numbers and the digits in their correct place

We’ve been learning more about the new rules and guidelines for keeping us safe. We measured out 2m bubbles to see how far away we need to keep away from adults and we carried out an experiment to see why we need to wash our hands with soap.

We’re ready for a relaxing weekend so we can recharge for another fun, busy week next week!

Our Learning 21.8.20

We have been really busy this week!

We have done some more work on place value and we are trying to tell the time – which is especially important now our school day has changed so much! We have been practising being calm and mindful to give ourselves time to relax.

We have done some more work on Superheroes, even designing our own superhero costume. We have also reflected on our Wonderful World – looking at our community on Google Maps, listening to Louis Armstrong sing and wrote our own lyrics for a song about our own wonderful world. And we’ve done a lot of learning outside!

Our Learning 14.8.20

So our first week back is done. There have been a lot of changes for us to get used to – different break times, more outdoor learning, lunch in our classrooms and LOTS of washing our hands!

Even though it has been a strange week, it has been a lot of fun and Mrs Simpson is very proud of how well we’ve done. We’ve started our new topic about superheroes and are looking forward to finding out how we can help others. We’ve also been learning about Haiku poems and we wrote our own all about lockdown.

We’re excited about what we’ll learn next week!
