Primary 7 had their regular visit to Menzieshill Library this week and their Primary 1 buddies came along too. Primary 7 helped their buddies to choose a book to take home and they spent time reading a book together in the library.
Primary 7 Numeracy
Primary 7 have been revisiting and revising statistics and data analysis. They started off with some practical activities to gather some results and then they worked together to calculate the mean, mode, median and range.
Primary 7 – Drama Workshop at St John’s
Primary 7 had a fantastic afternoon taking part in a drama workshop at St John’s. They were able to build on the all of the skills they have been learning with Mr Mordente and they worked in their groups to create some scenes, they used lights and sound to enhance their drama pieces. Well done P7, you did a great job!
Primary 7 – Literacy
Primary 7 have made the most of the lovely weather and took some of our literacy learning outdoors and used the outside classroom. We were working together to create a persuasive argument about a topic we feel strongly about.
Primary 7 – Book Tasting
Primary 7 took part in a Book Tasting activity this afternoon. They read 5 different books for 8 minutes and filled in a ‘menu’ at each table, listing the things that interested them about the book and they had to decide whether they would choose to read the book. Once they had visited all 5 tables, they had to pick a preferred book to read and the overall winner will be read as our class novel for the rest of this term.
Primary 7 – Skills for Life, Learning and Work
Primary 7 are learning about Skills for Life, Learning and Work this term and today spent time working in groups discussing what certain key words mean to them – ambitious, employability, opportunities and economic wellbeing. We then spent time discussing these words and what we think they mean for the future.
Primary 7 – Buddy Time
During buddy time last week, the Primary 7’s created obstacle courses for their P1 buddies. The Primary 1’s were fantastic and listened to their buddies explaining what to do and how to be safe when using the equipment.
Primary 7 – Drama Workshop
Over the next few weeks, Primary 7 will have the opportunity to take part in a series of drama lessons delivered by a drama teacher from St John’s, Mr Mordente. The class have had 2 sessions so far and have thoroughly enjoyed them and we are looking forward to visiting the drama department in May.
Primary 7 – Literacy
As part of our class literacy this term we are developing our talking and listening skills through the use of a resource called Voice 21. We are taking on different discussion roles and will be working on this throughout this term, this will develop our communication skills and help us to become even more confident when speaking in a group or in front of the class.
Primary 7 – Numeracy
In numeracy this week we have been revising algebra and working together to solve equations. We usually begin our numeracy lessons with some mental games and then work in groups to play the Countdown Target game before beginning the lesson.
Countdown has proven popular in P7 and we enjoy trying to reach the target before anyone else in our group! Here is a link to the online version which can be played at home:
