P5/6 have been learning about portraiture as part of our IDL this term – Mary Queen of Scots. Pupils have started to look at various portraits of Mary throughout history discussing likes/dislikes.
As an introduction to creating self-portraits in a medium/style of their own choosing, pupils learned how to sketch themselves in pencil using a computer printed image of themselves. P5/6 were taught the hatching and cross-hatching techniques to add depth and definition to their artwork.
Please look at some examples of pupils work below.
I loved the cross hatching it was so much fun! I hope we can do it again soon.
Hello Tattiana, I’m pleased to hear that you enjoyed learning about cross-hatching. You will certainly be given opportunities to use this technique again in portraiture before the end of term. Thank you for your comment 🙂 Mrs Robertson.
