Primary 3 Tiling
Primary 3 have been experimenting with 2d shapes that tile without leaving gaps and trying out different combinations to see what works. We’ve also been learning about the features of pentagons, hexagons and octagons.
Primary 3 Home Learning
Ava created this fabulous castle picture at home. She enjoyed talking us through it. Well done!
Primary 3 – Active Literacy
This term we are going to be looking at making our writing more WOW by using powerful words. We are throwing out dull words like ‘big’, ‘nice’ and ‘good’ and extending our vocabulary to make what we write more interesting for the reader. We heard an old favourite story, The Gruffalo and discussed the fantastic words that Julia Donaldson uses to make the story come alive. We then got into cooperative groups and went outside to create magical creatures of our own, using whatever we could find. We then explained to the other groups what our creature was called, explained its physical characteristics, its food and habitat in as much detail as possible. Next week we will use these descriptions to write a story, using some of our fantastic describing words. Finally we went on a monster hunt and acted out how we would react when we found our creature…..or…IF THE CREATURE FOUND US FIRST!
Primary 3 Play in a Pod
We have really enjoyed getting outside and using our creativity with the stuff in the pod. Space craft, homes, cars or just swinging on a tyre, we are calculating risk, pushing our limits and stretching our imagination! Not to mention, negotiating with others over resources, delegating jobs, sharing tasks and sorting our differences independently and positively. Who knew play was so skilful!
