A new week!
I am working in the hub this week, so I will post a selection of activities for the whole week. Any activities on past posts can also be carried out of course.
Literacy
Grey group
Read this poem (the numbers just count how many words are in each line)about a scarecrow and show how well you understand it by answering the questions. You might want to write them down or answer verbally: A Scarecrows Job poem
Grey and established yellow group
All groups
Please remember to read. If you have run out of books to read from your home, here’s a reminder of link to site with books to read online: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/
(Login using the password on front of folder.)
Numeracy
Squares
+ 2 x 5 ( yellow)
+ 4 ( pink)
= 74.
Can you calculate the value of this picture?
and this one?
Now go to the website and make your own pictures. Calculate the value of each one.
Triangles
Enjoy making pictures on above site and calculating the value of each picture.
Squares and Triangles
Here is the game I posted about last week:
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?f=SpringNumber
This time go to the parcels page and select 2x to answer / 10 x to answer. Squares you may also like 5x to answer.
Circles
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?f=SpringNumber
Select the flowers option. Choose Count 10 -20 ,Match 1 more/ Match 1 less, or any of the match answer in bottom section. Good luck!
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/number-facts/number-fact-families
Select + and –
You need to use 3 numbers and the + and – signs to make sums. Remember when you add you get a high number , so put the largest number at the end. If taking away, put the largest number at the start.
Good Luck!
Other activities

Squares and Triangles
Choose the game on yesterday’s post :
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?f=SpringNumber
( Select the flower, then Match 10 more/Match 10 less)
Remember we looked at the 100 square and 10 more means going 1 space down on the square, take away 10 means go up 1 space.
You may have to enable Flash to let this game play.
Triangles and circles
Choose the game on yesterday’s post :
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?f=SpringNumber
( Click on the flower shapes, then select bonds to 10 or 20)
You may have to enable Flash to let this game play.

Here’s a reminder of the link to this site with lots of children’s yoga:
Wishing you a good Thursday!
Literacy
All groups
Remember “you can’t Fred a red”. These words don’t follow the sounds rules. You might be able to tell an adult why they each word is a red word. ( In was, the a sounds like an o!)
Ask an adult to choose a word. Can you write it without looking at it?
Now you try:
All groups
Identify and make sentences: (click here) sentences
Numeracy
Squares
I know some of you enjoy a challenge. Did you manage the Suduko puzzle in a previous post? Here’s another one: suduko 3 (more suduko)
Here’s a game for you:
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?f=SpringNumber
( click on egg, then sequence numbers twos/ fives ( for squares group) /tens

Here are suggested tasks for today ( remember you can always choose learning from previous posts too):
Literacy
Today we are looking at the oo sound : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9U9y5XfJEs
Now read these sentences. Take a note of why the red words are red words ( they don’t follow our spelling pattern – the sounds misbehave). Count the number of words and look at the punctuation.
I took a book to look at.
Today I will help cook the lunch.
Say them in different voices.
Now without looking at the sentences, write them down.
How well did you do?
Add ing to each word to make new words. Remember you can’t have an “e” with an “ing”!
look shout cook make take play choose enjoy wave start like twirl sort score squeeze count chase
Numeracy
All groups
Here’s a problem solving challenge:
How many different combinations can you find?
( draw different doors with different combinations in your jotter)
Squares and Triangles
Triangles and circles
Practise the names of 2 digit numbers with this game: Take 2 playing cards – take out the 10, J, Q K and Ace-(or numbered pieces of paper) . Can you say the number? ( Use your 100 square if stuck).
Here is 67.
Here is 22.
This is 99.
Other activities
Here’s a fun experiment to do at home, which investigates how things change. The explanations might be bit tricky, but the experiment is easy to do ( no expensive materials needed!):

Hallo again everyone!
For today’s learning, please try activities from those suggested below in the Literacy and Numeracy sections:
Literacy
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zv78jhv
It starts with a reminder of how to use punctuation (filmed before social distancing). Activity 1 is a game:
Select sentences and easy to put words into the correct order and ensure each sentence has a capital letter and full stop. Then select punctuation and an option to practise using different punctuation.
In Activity 2, you are asked to write sentences before watching the clip. After watching it, write some more.
In Activity 3, you are asked to make a list ( as in Monday’s suggested Literacy activity on blog). You might then write some sentences using some of the words in your list.
Here are some reading activities on the Read Write Inc site. Just click on the arrow to scroll through words to read words using the sounds you know. These words are in the books you at your level.
Green group
Please practise reading these words:
https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/interactives/29098.html
Pink group
Please practise reading these words:
https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/interactives/29093.html
Yellow groups
Please practise reading these words:
https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/interactives/29095.html
Grey group
Please practise reading these words:
https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/interactives/29092.html
Numeracy
Squares and Triangles
Practise using your 10 times tables:https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zk89d6f
For activity 1, write 2 number sentences ( sums) fro each picture, an addition one and a times table one. ( example 10 + 10 + 10 = 30 and 3 x 10 =30)
There are games in activity 3 and 4.
Activity 2 is more suitable for squares as it uses “turnaround sums”
(2x 10 is the same as 10 x 2)
Circles
You have been learning about numbers bigger than 10 or 20.
Take your 100 square.
Ask an adult to say a number. They will tell you something about it, can you guess what it is?
Examples : My number is the number that comes between 21 and 23.
My number is the number that comes just before 31.
My number is the number that is 2 more than 18.
Other activities
This site has many ideas to do outside:

Good morning everyone!
A new week and a new month!
Literacy
This activity helps you practise your writing and your listening and remembering:
Make a list: Remember a list does not need capital letters and full stops. Each word is written under the last. It might be list of things you can see, your favourite toys/games/animals, etc, or maybe even help write a shopping list! Write each word using your sounds chart to help with the spelling.
Read it out loud ( or ask a grown up to do this for you) a number of times. Repeat out loud what is on your list.
How well did you do? How many things did you remember?
How many times did you need to listen to the words ?
Numeracy
Circles and Triangles
Write numbers 1-20 or 20-40 on separate pieces of paper.
Put in a pile face down, adult calls a number, within the range of numbers. Child turns over first number. If the numbers match, child keeps the card. Take turns.
This game can also be played at a harder level. This time, is your number 1 smaller or 1 bigger than the number called?
Squares
Play this game , but you need to make a sum for each number , in order to win the card!
Other activities
Leaf rainbow prints
Here’s an idea I saw online and tried out, it’s great fun!
Take a leaf and on the underside (not the shiny side,) colour between the veins with rainbow coloured felt pens.
Now, turn the leaf over and press down on a piece of paper, rubbing all over the leaf.(It is probably easiest to hold the stalk as you do this)
Take the leaf away , and………
you should have a lovely rainbow leaf!
Why not experiment with different shaped leaves?
Good morning everyone! Hope all are well and you get some opportunity to enjoy some of this lovely sunshine!
If you can take your learning outside, please undertake any of the activities suitable for outdoors, mentioned on previous blogs.
For indoor learning, please see selection of learning listed below:
