Primary 2 – The tin forest
This afternoon Miss Melton helped children make creatures for the role play area which Miss Melton is transforming into the tin forest , similar to the one in the story she read to the class.
Can you guess which creatures P2 made?
Primary 2 – Outdoor learning with natural materials
Today Miss Melton took P2 outdoors to collect natural materials which they used to make their own names.
They needed to think about whether the letters had straight or curved lines and which materials to use to make these lines. Thin twigs could be bent to make curved lines.
Some children made pictures from materials, once they had finished making their name.
Can you guess which creature has been made?
Primary 2 – Materials game ( waterproof materials)
Find out which materials are waterproof:

Primary 2 -Materials for play
We used the materials from the pod for our play today. We thought about the properties of materials as we made shelters and vehicles.
Primary 2 – Numeracy games
Some children have been practicing counting in 2s. Our learning intention is to learn to count quickly and accurately and so, we learned to skip count. We learned that when you count in 2s, numbers end in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. These numbers are called even numbers.
Playing these games will help you practise counting in 2s and identify even numbers:

Primary 2 – Investigating materials
This afternoon we spent time at a number of “materials” stations.
Some children sorted materials from the tuff tray into different categories.
Some children enjoyed a bingo game in which they identified waterproof materials.
It was fun finding out facts about materials from the set of library books we received in class today.
Some children selected a variety of materials to make a model or picture of their choosing.
A group of children made pictures using wood, nails, loom bands and wool.
Primary 2 – Weekly reflection
Each week we have the opportunity to share with the class what we have learned that week.
Look what we learned last week.
Primary 2- Den building
Today we put into practice our learning about the properties of materials. Miss Melton asked us to make a waterproof shelter. We went in search of sticks, but as it was so cold we made our shelters indoors.
It was great fun and we enjoyed working in teams.
