Numeracy
Squares
- Let’s practise place value. This is where we think about how a number is made up. We did a lot of work on this using rods and Numicon and learned that 65 is made up from 6 tens and 5 ones.Play this game to practise : https://www.topmarks.co.uk/place-value/place-value-charts selecting TU . (We used the term ones instead of units.) You might like this game too. It has towers of 10 and ones but they are different colours than our rods.http://www.ictgames.com/sharkNumbers/mobile/index.html
- Mrs Taylor has been making pictures with rods on the site I mentioned previously.https://nrich.maths.org/4348The value of my house is: 6 x10 ( orange)
+ 2 x 5 ( yellow)
+ 4 ( pink)
= 74.
Can you calculate the value of this picture?
and this one?
Now go to the website and make your own pictures. Calculate the value of each one.
Triangles
Enjoy making pictures on above site and calculating the value of each picture.

- Or you might like a challenge here:

Select + and –
You need to use 3 numbers and the + and – signs to make sums. Remember when you add you get a high number , so put the largest number at the end. If taking away, put the largest number at the start.
Good Luck!
- Number Shape Addition To 10 Activity Sheet gives you practise adding using Numicon. This sheet does too, but is a little trickier, giving practise with your number stories of 10): Number Shapes Number Bonds To 10 Activity Sheet
- Here’s a missing number activity: Raindrop Missing Number Activity Sheet
