Good morning everyone!
I hope everyone is well. What a strange school holiday we had!
Well our adventure continues this term with more school learning done at home.
I hope you manage to find a routine where you are able to set aside a little part of the day to keep that learning going. Try to include a little literacy, a little numeracy and a little excercise each day. You might also want to include some making – cut and stick, drawing, construction or helping a grown up with the preparation of games.
Now, I know Mrs MacPhail has said that some teachers are taking turns to work in the “hub” and our home learning will reflect that. It is my turn this week , so I will post some work for you to do, but I will give work in more detail on days when I am not working in the hub.
So, ideas for this week.
Literacy
Please read!
There are so many lovely books to choose from on Oxford Owl
( login details on home learning folder) as mentioned last term:
https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/please-log-in
Just go to class login and select a book to read. Each book also has 2 activities .
Alternatively read a book you have at home. Enjoy!!
Please practise the sounds on your sounds chart. Choose one that is new to you. For pronunciation , please go to:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7hRbrpq5Bo
for set 2 sounds, or for set 3 use:

Play “schools” with your sounds chart ( in home learning pack). Point to the sounds for your family/ lego men/cuddly toys to answer!
Do the hold a sentence activity, described in last term’s posts.
Here are some more sentences fro those using set 3 sounds

Numeracy
Squares and triangles keep practising counting in 2s, and 10s ( and 5s for squares)and the tables.
These games help:

fro 10 times tables
https://www.primarygames.com/holidays/thanksgiving/games/turkeyfives/
for 5 times tables
If you think you know them well try the challenges in:
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/daily10
Select level 2 , then multiplication. How quickly can you solve the sums??
A little bit of excercise to practise counting in 5s:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amxVL9KUmq8
Try these using your paper rods ( in pack) or your knowledge of the times tables. Can you draw the answer and write the sum?
- Tesco have multibags of crisps.
Each bag has 5 individual bags in it.
If you buy 3 large bags, how many bags are there altogether?
- 4 hens lay 10 eggs each.
How many eggs are there altogether?
- You have 3 packs of burgers.
Each pack has 2 burgers in it. How many burgers altogether?
- There are 6 pairs of socks on the washing line.
How many socks are there altogether?
Circles: Keep playing the games suggested last term and items in your pack. This game is fun – join the dots ( choosing the range of numbers you can manage) . Remember you have a 100 square in your pack to help you.

Have you drawn a rainbow yet?
Mrs Taylor has tried to have a short walk each day and it cheers me up , as I am sure it does other people to see these lovely pictures in people’s windows.
The following sites have lots of activities which may be carried out at home,

Hope you are remembering the fitness sites I mentioned last term . Here’s a link to a quick Easter dance :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPaaDjhVKqk

Keep safe Primary 2!
Sending a smile!
Hi Mrs Taylor
Hope you had a nice Easter, Rae is very much missing school, her friends and yourself.
I was wondering if you could tell me what I should be focusing on in terms of numeracy for Rae as I’m really not sure.
Sorry to bother you, I have read through the blog but I can’t access the Abcdya.
Thanks
Aah, I am missing you all too. Keep smiling Rae, I know you will be a big help at home.
Circles have been learning numbers beyond 20, their order and names. It is easier to try the numbers in groups of 10, progressing from 20 to 29, then from 30 to 39 etc.The 100 square in Rae’s pack can be used for her to refer to. Can she find for example 26, 57, etc. Can she find the number that comes before 60 and so on.
Join the dots games are great fun to practise this skill. Perhaps you could play a game of bingo. Each player writes down 10 numbers- select numbers from the 100 square and call these numbers.
Snakes and ladders where you name each square you land on ( we do this in school) is another idea.
You might want to write numbers on pieces of paper, throw a rolled up sock as a ball to land on these numbers. Say each number you hit, then order the numbers in ascending or descending order.
I will put a selection of games on the blog ( some I may have put on previously- apologies if so)
Keep smiling Rae, its great to hear you have been working hard.
