Quiz of the Week

This term, we are going to have a quiz of the week every Friday. The quiz will test our knowledge of what we have learned during the week.

This week, we made a team name and a team poster which we will display each week during the quiz.

Katie Morag

Our IDL topic this term is Katie Morag. We have been looking at maps of Scotland and the Isle of Struay and have been comparing our family to Katie Morag’s family.

We designed tartan for Katie Morag’s skirt and drew Katie Morag to display in the classroom. Here we are showing off all of our hard work.

We are looking forward to learning all about Struay and comparing it to Menzieshill.

Read, Write, Count

We have been working with the books and games in our Read, Write, Count bags in preparation for the gifting event next week.

Today, we looked at the book Mr Tiger Goes Wild and drew one of the expressions Mr Tiger has in the book. We can tell how Mr Tiger is feeling from the shape of his mouth and eyes. We had a giggle recreating some of Mr Tiger’s faces.

Christmas Tree

One of our homework tasks this week was to make a decoration for our Christmas tree. Here is the tree with decorations made by P1, P2 and P3. We think the tree is beautiful and we are all really looking forward to Christmas Day.

ICT Skills

In ICT , we have been learning how to login to our own account. We are growing in confidence every week. We are able to use a search engine to find a website and we can navigate around the site with our partner. ICT is one of our favourite times of the week.

Fit Thursday

We took part in lots of different sports and physical activity on Thursday. We tried judo, dance, football, cricket, boxercise, botcha and yoga as well as completing our Walk a Mile and Fit 15! Phew!

We were tired by the end of the day but we had a fantastic time inside and outside.

The girls talk tactics before their football match.

Another Special Visitor!

Today, Justine from the SSPCA came to tell us all about her job and the different things that the SSPCA do for animals.

Logan got to hold the toy hedgehog while Justine told us what we should do if we see a hedgehog looking for food. Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals and if we see them during the day, it means they are hungry. They like cat and dog food and water and you can leave food for them but Justine said not to go near them because they can get scared.

If we see a hedgehog during the day, we should phone the SSPCA to let them know.

Gymnastics

This term, we are learning some gymnastics in P.E. We have been learning to travel across the mat and the bench in lots of different ways. We can also put different moves together to make a sequence.

We have now move on to balancing objects as we travel. This is definitely a bit trickier but, with lots of practice, we will get better and better.

Learning is Fun

We learn in lots of different ways in our classroom.

We have been learning to skip count in 2s, 5s and 10s this term. One of the ways we learn this is by singing and dancing along to Go Noodle. We follow the actions to help us to remember how to count.

Miss Gunning can tell this is working well because we count with more confidence since we started Go Noodle.
