25.10.19 P5H

Welcome back after the October holidays! Hope you lol had a fabulous time.  We have everyone back after all of their adventures.

This week, we have started assembly preparations. We are looking forward to having you all see us on the 2nd November. We will be presenting our learning and knowledge of the Romans topic with a twist of a musical! We were doing some research on the Roman Emperors. We looked at timelines and what each were famous or infamous for. We have been singing lots and learning the lines of our characters.

We were working on our imaginative writing skills this week. We were given an image of a cave. After this we started to generate key words that may help us within the story. We then let our imaginations run wild as we created our individual stories.

This week, we have been continuing to read the class novel “The Wild Robot Escapes”. Roz the Robot has been trying to find Brightbill the Goose, her son, as they have been separated. Roz is now in the city and trying to blend in with the other robots and humans. Roz heard her son in the forest and went running to find her however there was a spaceship with the RECO’s above her.

Some of the class were representing Redwell at the Cross Country Championships. Harry M came first out of all of the P5 boys. We are very proud of him.

This week, we have uttered the C word. We have been working on designs for a festive card and these will be coming out after the holidays.

As part of writing and reading comprehension, we have been skimming and scanning for the key information about inspirational people from a variety of different backgrounds and across the world.  We tweeted some of the images of the work we were completing.

Enjoy the holidays and we will see you back for term 2!

P5H 4.10.19

We have had another very busy week in P5H. During our PE lessons, we have been continuing to work on our rugby 🏉 skills. We have progressed to playing games and ensuring that we are using the backwards or side wards pass.

In our writing this week, the focus has been on character description. We had to look at images and in a short period of time generate a description and create a back story for the character, we had to ensure that we were thinking about the character as a whole and not just the physical appearance. We then created our own character and had to weave the description into the story. We found this quite hard.

With Mrs Barron in art 🎨, we were drawing a Roman vase. We had to make sure that it was symmetrical and we had to shade (using paint) to show the light and dark of the the vase to make it look 3D.

In maths, we have been looking at Roman numerals as this is a historical number system and this links with our topic. We found it tricky to transfer this knowledge to complete tasks. We have also moved on to coordinates and thinking about positions of items.
Bye!
