P5E – 6.9.19

IDL – This week for our topic we have been making a timeline of key events from the Romans. We had to make sure our timeline was in chronological order – this was quite tricky using the dates BC and AD. Here are a couple of our timelines…

Maths – We practiced our chimney sums in maths this week to solve addition and subtraction questions. Also, with Miss Robinson this week we started looking at 2D shapes.

Comprehension – We started a different comprehension task this week, it is called the comprehension box and it lets us choose our own texts and progress through a range of different texts. Miss Mcewan was very impressed with how hard we all worked during comprehension.

We went to Alloa Academy to perform our Scot’s Songs, we sang songs we learned in P4 to the audience. In the break we were surprised by an amazing band called Rura who performed some Scottish and Irish songs for us. We had a great afternoon!

Quotes of the week

“We did Roman timelines to help us with our Roman topic”

We started our new comprehension that was really fun”

P5E – 30.8.19

Atlas work – We did some atlas work and searched for lots of different capital cities in Europe on the map. We worked in pairs to complete this task.

Writing – This week we also tried free writing for the first time in primary 5, we had 15 minutes to write a story about whatever we wanted. We loved free writing and can’t wait to do it again. Miss Mcewan was also very impressed to see lots of us using our WOW words in our writing.

PE – In PE this week we did the beep test, we were all very tired after this but enjoyed challenging ourselves to see how far we could go.

IDL – This week in P5E we started our new topic The Romans. We worked together to see what we already knew and what we wanted to find out. We have already learned lots of interesting facts about The Romans. Did you know they gave us straight roads? Tell someone at home another interesting Romans fact primary 5…

Quotes of the week

“When we had Miss Robinson on Wednesday she taught us all about Uganda”

“I enjoyed labelling the capital cities in the countries on the atlas”

P5E Welcome back 23/8/19

Welcome back to school! In P5E we have had an excellent first week back and have been busy with lots of different activities in the class.

   Our first day in P5E

Here are some of the things we have done…

-We built our class charter together and discussed how we can be respectful in our classroom and the whole school. We now have this displayed in our classroom with all of our hand prints and signatures.

-We did lots of getting to know each other activities and shared important information with each other.

-We started to focus on mental maths by playing different games as a class.

-We learned about how to stay safe online and made posters with a partner to share key information about how to stay safe online.

Each week we are going to share two quotes from people in our class sharing their thoughts on something from the week. Here are our first two:

“I enjoyed making my Redwell Primary School passport”

“I enjoyed making the online safety poster because it keeps people safe on the internet”

Thank you to everyone who will be coming to read our weekly blog, we hope you enjoy us sharing our classroom learning with you.
