We are fully embracing Literacy Week by taking part in lots of fun literacy based activities this week!
We started our week by reading example scripts and identifying the key features of script writing. We then started to plan our own scripts based on The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. With a partner, we planned up to 3 scenes of dialogue between the main characters Bruno and Shmuel and we will act out our scripts later in the week.
We then thought about the literacy aspect of Numeracy and Maths and decided to create our very own Mathematical Dictionary. The challenge for this task was to find mathematical vocabulary for each letter of the alphabet.

We started working on diary entries for our writing lesson today. We are using our class novel as a stimulus and our diary entries will be written from two very different view points.
The children were asked to select one main event from the story involving the main characters, Bruno and Shmuel. They were then asked to compare the thoughts, feelings and experiences of each character during this event and write a diary entry as if they were the character.

Mr Richardson and Mrs Morrison set up a really fun PE session for us today. We got a little taste of some of the sporting events on offer at the Winter Olympics. We got to have a go at speed skating, curling, hockey, bobsleigh, ski jump and ski slalom. We also used the iPads to map out some of the participating countries on a paper map.

Thank you very much for supporting our sharing of learning afternoon. The children have worked very hard and really did themselves proud today!

We had great fun being the first class to visit the P7 Bake Sale!
We thought about a book we’ve read and enjoyed recently and made notes about our likes and dislikes, puzzles and any connections we could make to the story.
We added these to our developing reading area in the hope that we’ll encourage a classmate to try something new.
We have been keeping track of the progress of our science experiment from last week by checking and recording our results every day. We have noticed small differences and have been a little bit surprised by what is happening so far.
We are working to improve our class library to make it a more comfortable and enjoyable place to be. As part of this we looked at whether we should ‘trash or treasure’ the books we currently have in our library.
Here are some photos of us organising the books that we wanted to keep…
