The class worked in their cooperative learning groups to create their own Christmas acrostic poems. Each child had their own role. We had the Recorder, Reader and Resource Handler. The children worked well in there groups and were all able to present their poems at the end to the class.
Primary 2 are learning about astronauts for their Space topic. The children had the chance to work with P6 to research what kinds of food astronauts eat in Space, they made posters together displaying the information. At the end they were able to present their findings to the class. The class enjoyed learning with P6.
The children have been learning all about shapes. On Monday the children had the opportunity to go out into the playground to see if they could identify any ‘real life’ 2D and 3D shapes.
The children have created their own Mr Men books in class. The children picked their favourite Mr Men character or used one they had made up themselves to write a story with a beginning and one event. Then the children had the opportunity to read them to the whole class. They are now on display in the shared area for other children to enjoy reading.
After reading Mr Tall and Mr Small as part of our Mr Men topic we have been learning about measuring in maths. The children have been measuring in centimetres the length of objects around the classroom. The children also went outside to measure the length of their feet.
On Thursday afternoon the children worked in groups to create their own Mr Men character. As a group they had to decide on a name and work together using different materials to build it. The children demonstrated good problem solving and team working skills.
