New Payment ~ Parents of Eligible P1 Pupils

A brand new benefit for low income families is now open for applications.

The £250 School Age Payment is for families with a child old enough to start primary school  this August.

The payment is part of the Best Start Grant, a package of three payments for families in receipt of eligible benefits – including Universal Credit, Income Support, Housing Benefit and tax credits – to help at key stages in a child’s life.

CANCER RESEARCH RACE FOR LIFE

Race for Life | Cancer Research UKP6/7 are organising a whole school fundraising event for CancerResearch UK. Our Deerpark Race for Life will take place onThursday 6th June, 2019.

This will be an all day event with classes timetabled to be out on the track (timetable will be shared nearer the time).

Throughout the afternoon there will be a variety of fundraising events (guess the bear’s birthday, sweets in the jar,CRUK stall etc) on the field as well as music and hopefully a sunny, fun atmosphere.

All children who take part AND raise sponsorship will receive a medal in our medal ceremony at around 2:15pm.

Parents/carers are welcome to come along and cheer on their child’s class, as per timetable to be shared, however we would encourage as many people as possible to attend in the afternoon to add to the atmosphere/fundraising efforts. Please feel free to invite a friend!

Sponsor sheets are coming home today and there is also an online fundraising page available at

https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/deerpark-primary-school

Please share far and wide!

P6/7 have worked incredibly hard on this event and we hope you can all come along and support their fundraising efforts on 6thJune.

Clackmannanshire Primary Schools Sports Association Athletics Championship

Today a group of Primary 6 and Primary 7 pupils took part in the Clackmannanshire Primary Schools Sports Association Athletics Championship at Lornshill Academy.

Team Deerpark!

WELL DONE to all our pupils who took part,  they all showed so much effort and resilience at today’s event.

Vehicles in School Grounds

We would just like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents, carers and family members who continue to follow our policy of NOT driving vehicles into the school grounds to drop off children.

This has been very much appreciated. This has meant that congestion in the car parks has been kept to a minimum and of course supports our ultimate goal of keeping everyone safe.

We ask for your ongoing support with this.

Letter from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am Rhoda MacDougall and will be the interim headteacher of Deerpark Primary until June 2019.  I have had a super first week working in the school and have been made to feel very welcome indeed!

I am really keen to get to know our children and families over the coming weeks and so I hope you are able to come to our Sharing the Learning event which will take place on Wednesday 27th March from 6.00pm -7.00pm. This will give you an opportunity to spend some time in your child’s class and see the work they are doing each day at Deerpark.  I look forward to meeting you all next week!

After the spring holiday I will sending out questionnaires to our children and families to find out what you like about Deerpark and also how you think we could improve our work at the school too.   This will help shape our school improvement plan for Deerpark and your views will be very valuable and welcome.

In the meantime please get in touch with me at the school if there is anything you would like to discuss further.

Many thanks

Rhoda MacDougall

Friday Assembly

Catering Services have asked Clackmannanshire children for new ideas for the school lunch menus. Leah in P6 wrote down some of the ideas and will be taking more ideas over the next few days.

Dylan B also took down some ideas for how we could raise money and have fun for Comic Relief day on Friday 15 March. If you have any suggestions, please comment below.
