Under the Sea

We have had another busy week in nursery! We have started our Under the Sea topic and we are enjoying lots of new activities. We have been reading ‘The Light House Keeper’s Lunch and we have been acting out and retelling the story. Lots of boys and girls have enjoyed this!

Miss Waldron very kindly visited the beach for us and brought us back lots of beautiful shells and other things.  We have been very interested in these and have examined them very closely. We have even been creating our own art with them.

We have been continuing our work in our listening and sounds groups. We are becoming experts at hearing the syllables in words and we are working very hard on noticing rhyming words in stories and poems.  We have been discovering lots of words beginning with ‘s’ in our feely bag and are trying to notice ‘s’ words around the nursery.

Here are some pictures of us hard at work!

  1. Hello there! I love all your underwater activities and your huge octopus looks great. Have you seen the octopus in P1m? Maybe they could become friends and have lots of adventures together.

  2. I love the pictures of you working together. I really like the story of the lighthouse keepers lunch. For my lunch I like sandwiches, soup and sausages – can you hear all the s sounds?

  3. Hello! I loved visiting your nursery and joining your ‘listening and sounds’ group. Thank you for smiling at me and helping me to learn your names.
I took a photo of the octopus that is hanging in your classroom. It was so big and colourful! Can I show this to children in other schools?
I read Mr McLaren’s comment about his lunch. I also like soup, but instead of sandwiches, I like salad and strawberries. What do you like for lunch?
