All summer long the radio has been blasting Billboard top 100 classics from Bobby Darin, Jackie Wilson and Elvis Presley. Teenagers up and down the USE have been hanging out in burger joints, drinking milkshakes by the dozen and drag racing their beat up custom cars for precious pink slips.

Down at the beach good girl Sandy Dumbrowski and greaser Danny Zuko have fallen in love.

Summer draws to a close and the oncoming fall brings with it a new term. King of cool and head greaser Zuko, is returning to Rydell high for his senior year. Reunited with his ganag of wheeler-dealer, renegade buddies and best friend Kenickie Zuko tries to put memories of his summer loving behind him.

Across campus a sweet, naïve, and altogether too wholesome Sandy finds herself taken under the wing of the Pink Ladies – a club jacketed, gum-chewing, hip-swinging girl gang led by the formidable Betty Rizzo.
