Level 1 First Aid Training

This morning we had our Level 1 First Aid training. We learned about how to respond in an emergency, how to help someone who has asthma or is choking, and how to put someone into the recovery position. To see more pictures, have a look on our class page on GLOW.

Long Rope Skipping

Today we worked hard in P.E to earn long rope skipping badges. It was a challenge but lots of badges were earned. Everyone managed to jump in and out of the rope when it was turning and some even managed to do 50 skips with a turn and touch the ground!

Money

Here are some photos of us learning about money. In this challenge, we were given bags of money and had to calculate how much we had. We had to think carefully about how to organise the coins and notes so that we could add them up accurately without missing any or getting muddled. We also set up a shop in class and took it in turns to be the shop keeper and customer. We had to calculate change.

Country Comparison Presentations

Before Christmas we researched different countries and compared them Scotland. We considered the similarities and differences between school, food, transport, and weather in the two countries. We created SWAY PowerPoints on GLOW to show what we had learnt. We then presented our findings to our class.

Numeracy Work

In class we have been focusing on using different strategies to solve addition problems. We have been working in pairs to show our thinking and explain which strategies work well for each problem that we are given. We have been using lots of concrete materials such as cubes, tens and units and number squares to help us show our thinking.
