As David said in his video, he started off his interest in motor sports from a very young age in a small town in the South West of Scotland. From many years of hard work and perseverance he went on to  compete in 15 seasons of Formula One between 1994 and 2008, taking 13 Grand Prix victories and 62 podium finishes,.

I would like to personally thank David Coulthard for replying and  taking the time to create this truly inspirational video for our very own Methlick School pupils and community.

MILD: LITERACY & HWB : Sky High #2

Yesterday we talked about our ambitions and dreams something we could reach for in the sky.

Today we are going to look at the skills and qualities we have ourselves to help us reach that target. Have these discussions while you are taking the time to look at the sky.

To reach the ambition in the sky, we are going to need wings, your wings are made of words that the meaning relates to you.

Follow the steps below in the sway to complete part 2.

Remember this can be a drawing activity too and also send in your work to your teacher through seesaw or email.

MILD: Numeracy: Counting in

We are looking at Counting In on the grids this week. This could be counting in 1’s 2’s 5’s 10’s 3’s and so on.

We can start from one and focus on counting on from there or you may like to challenge yourself and select a number in the 100 square and start from there.

Follow the sway below for an activity idea you can do at home. There is a variety of ways you can do this jigsaw style art. I have just given you the instructions to follow one method.

Remember that if you complete this activity to take a photo and send it to your teach via email or seesaw.

3,2,1… Go! Let’s get ready for Sports Day!

These extra activities are on the Sports Day grid.

These are my ideas!

Please share your snack recipes with your class teacher and we will create a ‘Sports Day Cookbook’.

One of the activities on the Sports Day grid is to make ‘Sports Day Medals’. We are surrounded by people who help us, love us and want us to succeed. I think some of these individuals deserve a medal!

Here are some ideas!

What are your ideas?

And finally…

Mrs Lusher’s Exercise Preparation for Sports Day

Today we have launched our Sports Day grid, in preparation for whenever you decide to tackle our grid it is important to warm up and cool down when taking part any exercise.

Please see Mrs Lusher sway below on Bilateral Lifts

MILD: Literacy & HWB : Sky High

This week’s sky journal is going to focus on ambition. Thinking about our dreams and big goals and where we want to go. We can take great inspiration from our health heroes thinking about what they have achieved after leaving Methlick.

You could do the same!

The sky seems to always be quite far away, something people will rarely be able to touch. We are all under the same sky and we all have big hopes and dreams.

I want you to think about what is one of your big dreams what would you like to do or be when you are older. It could be a small goal or a big dream.

Over this week we are going to be doing a photography task looking at how we can… REACH FOR THE SKY… and aim …SKY HIGH…

Our first post has focused on talking about our big dreams, so I want you to take a picture of the sky. On whatever device you are taking it I would like you to edit it. As we are going to add some writing, you can type or use the brush and I would like you to put somewhere high in sky that big or small ambition you are thinking about. I have put up a few examples, one which I have now and one from when I was little.

You could also complete this task doing a hand drawn picture of the sky writing in your goal at the top, or cut out letter from a magazine or newspaper and stick them to the top.

Although this is a simple task today you can have a great discussion with family talking about what your big dreams are and how you can …REACH FOR THE SKY…

Here is my sway on my Sky journal writing.

Next time we will add the next part, thinking about how we get there. Because, in the words of my favourite Disney princess ‘Tiana’ “The only way to get what you want in this world is through Hard Work” and we will talk more about hard work next time.

Methlick’s BIG NIGHT IN: The Results

What an Amazing Evening and Weekend we hope you all had, if you joined us for the Big Night In.

It felt amazing on Friday Evening to watch the countdown and think about everyone that was tuning in. We had at most 66 families watching the premiere event live and throughout the evening we had over a 100 views. Then it over the weekend we had many more views, we are now sitting at 363 views. This is absolutely amazing to look at. We know so many of you shared the show with others and we have had viewers from around the world with family members who can’t get home.

This was a really big project for the Methlick Community and we are really glad you enjoyed it, we can tell from the messages we have received and also the long list of Facebook comments. We really do hope that the BNI has brought some joy and laughter, brought your family together and created a happy memory for during this time.

So why are you all still reading?

Ah the results you want to see the answers…

Here they are!

The Answers

Once you have totalled up your score please leave us a comment with your team name and score and below and tell us what was your favourite part of taking part in the BIG NIGHT IN.
Reminder if you are taking part in the Mutch v Reid Challenges remember to get your scores in by Tomorrow!

HWB – Under the same sky

I shared this book with you on Monday.

I have added some more information to the book about the group of people, who live under the same sky as you, who were very happy to take a photo of the sky to share with you.

I think that was very kind.

The photographs were taken by my friends  between 10am and 12noon at the weekend (16th/17th May)

  1. America, New York
  2. Canada, Alberta
  3. France, Toulouse
  4. Holland,
  5. Russia, Moscow
  6. Russia, Svetlogorsk
  7. Scotland, Dundee
  8. Scotland, Oldmeldrum
  9. Scotland, The Isle of Lewis

I wonder if you can work out where each photo has been taken.

I have put some of the originals back in because I cropped them as it would have been too obvious. I wonder if you can find out the time difference between Scotland and there?

Maybe you could ask someone you are missing to send you a photograph of the sky and you could send one to them and you could talk about what you both see.
