Realising the ambition: Being Me (Scottish Government, 2020) This guidance, Realising the Ambition: Being Me, reflects the original
principles and philosophy of Building the Ambition and complements the
current policy direction of ELC and early primary education. It aspires to
support practitioners in delivering what babies and young children need most
and how we can most effectively deliver this in Scotland to give children the
best start in life.

Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) helps our children and young people gain the knowledge, skills and attributes needed for life in the 21st century. As part of their learner journey, all children and young people in Scotland are entitled to experience a coherent curriculum from 3 to 18, in order that they have opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to adapt, think critically and flourish in today’s world.

Quality improvement framework for the early learning and childcare sectors ( Care Inspectorate and Education Scotland, 2025) is a self-evaluation framework which supports quality improvement in early learning and childcare (ELC) settings. It can be used by all early learning and childcare (ELC) services. This includes childminders and school age childcare providers. The Care Inspectorate and His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) will use the framework for the inspection of settings.
