here are some learning activities for you to have a look at today.

Literacy 🐧

Follow this link to watch the penguins at Edinburgh Zoo and answer these questions.

What are they up to?

Are they all the same?

Can you spot the one with a sore leg?

If you can’t see them, where do you think they have gone?

If you are very lucky, you might see a zookeeper with a white bucket. What do you think he has in the bucket and what do the penguins do when they see him?

What do you notice about how they move on land and how they move in the water?

Good morning P1-4 and a Happy New Year!

Here are some learning activities for you to have a look at today.

Question time

Use these sentence starters to write your own sentence or paragraph. Can you write or tell a story about Percy?

• P2-4 – The usual spelling practice and assessment has been set on Sumdog.  If you have done these already, you could do some spelling training.  There is also the Maths fluency option.  If you don’t have your log in details, email me and I can help.
• Share a book with someone at home, or read to yourself.
• Write a silly story using all of your spelling words.
• Practice number bonds to 10, 20 or 100 (as appropriate).
• Create a picture or a tiling pattern using only 2D shapes (square, rectangle, triangle, circle, oval, pentagon, hexagon etc).
• Create a winter wonderland picture.  You could use coloured pens or pencils, paint, or even create a collage.
• Think about what animals you have in your garden.  What are they doing in this cold weather?  Is there anything you can do to help them?  Perhaps put out some fresh water, or bird food, then wait to see who comes to eat or drink.  Can you identify any of the birds?
