A woodpecker in my garden this morning!

Good morning P5-7,

Here are some learning activities for you to have a look at today.

More times tables practise. Use this website, choose a times table to work on and see if you can master it by the end of the day. Sumdog practise task is available until 3pm.
Gaelic weather- watch the video from yesterday again and have a go at the worksheet – writing sentences about the weather e.g. ‘It is cold and I am cold’.weather worksheet 21.11.25
Story writing: Muffin’s bathtime. Continue the story- Who is Muffin? Why is she having a bath- in a house? Use adjectives to describe her. Can you include a simile? Alliteration? Add your story in the comments or email it to me if you want to share it here. (Pobble 365)
Art- draw a monochrome picture. Think about the elements of art- in particular shape,form and value- and draw a wintry scene. My photo of the woodpecker above is a colour photo, but looks almost black and white because of the snow. Perhaps you could draw Vanessa in a snowy garden!

Good morning Primary 1-4. Here are some more activities for you to have a go at if you are able today:

P2-4 – The usual spelling practice and assessment has been set on Sumdog. If you have done these already, you could do some spelling training. There is also the Maths fluency option. If you don’t have your log in details, email me and I can help.
Share a book with someone at home, or read to yourself.
Write a silly story using all of your spelling words.
Practice number bonds to 10, 20 or 100 (as appropriate).
Create a picture or a tiling pattern using only 2D shapes (square, rectangle, triangle, circle, oval, pentagon, hexagon etc).
Create a winter wonderland picture. You could use coloured pens or pencils, paint, or even create a collage.
Think about what animals you have in your garden. What are they doing in this cold weather? Is there anything you can do to help them? Perhaps put out some fresh water, or bird food, then wait to see who comes to eat or drink. Can you identify any of the birds?

Good morning Primary 1-4. I hope you are enjoying this wintery weather! Here are some ideas to keep you busy today whether you are indoors or outside.

Write (or tell someone) a short story about a magical snowy land.
Write an acrostic poem using the words SNOW DAY.
Practice writing you spelling words (or sounds P1) in the snow, or practice them any other way indoors.
How many 3D shapes can you make out of snow. I’d love to see photos of them if possible!
P1 – Practice forming your numbers 1-10. Can you spot any of the numbers around your house?
P2-4 Practice addition and subtraction. Perhaps someone at home could write you some sums to solve.
Build a snowman and measure how high it is.

Most of all, stay warm, enjoy your day and hopefully I’ll see you all tomorrow.

Peter Mackay visit

This afternoon P5-7 had a visit from Scotland’s Makar, Peter Mackay, as part of Braemar Literary Festival. We asked him about his role as Makar, about his poetry and also asked about Gaelic, as we have just started learning Gaelic in class. He shared some of his poems with us and we made up a funny story together about a spooky house in the woods. After he left, we wrote poems about Biscoff biscuits!
