Learning P5/6/7 05.01.26

Good Morning P5/6/7

Here are some learning activities for you to have a look at on this snowy day.Senses Poetry – Open this file for instructions on how to write a descriptive poem using the 5 senses. Snow Day Poetry.

Magimix – Use 1,6,6,2,3,1 to equal 30.

Measuring – Use a ruler or a tape measure to find the depth of the snow. Record your findings.

STEM – Create a chain reaction. Use dominos, Lego, blocks, marbles, (anything you can find) to make the longest chain reaction you can. Film it toppling down and experiment with slow motion on a device if you have one available. The science: When you line something like dominos up they have potential energy. When you knock over the first domino this potential energy is changed into kinetic energy, which is the energy of motion.

Fitness in P5/6/7

This term P5/6/7 have been working on the 10 physical skills of fitness: agility, accuracy, balance, co-ordination, flexibility, endurance, stamina, speed, strength, power. They have also been setting fitness targets and working hard to achieve them. Here are some photos from today’s circuits lesson – everyone working very hard!

P4/5/6/7 Sharing our opinion

On Wednesday we had visitors to our class from Marr Area Partnership and Action for a Fairer World. The reason for their visit was to ask for children’s views and opinions on Braemar, which will be shared with the Community Council and contribute towards the Community Action Plan.

Thank you for visiting Liza Riddell, Natalija Clark-Mill, David Innes, and Lindsay Gallagher.

Play in P5-7

P5-7 have been leading their learning through play, inspired by items in the much anticipated Mystery Box. The box held a digital camera, 3d glasses, a medal and a wooden box.

Ivy – “we have been adapting when things go wrong, we come back and try again to make it better

Piper – “we have been communicating with each other about what we are going to do next”

Peter Mackay visit

This afternoon P5-7 had a visit from Scotland’s Makar, Peter Mackay, as part of Braemar Literary Festival. We asked him about his role as Makar, about his poetry and also asked about Gaelic, as we have just started learning Gaelic in class. He shared some of his poems with us and we made up a funny story together about a spooky house in the woods. After he left, we wrote poems about Biscoff biscuits!

Welcome to our new school blog!

Welcome to our new blog. This online space will help us to share our learning with parents, carers and the wider world and will contain weblinks to support learning. Much of the content will be created by the pupils themselves, as they develop their digital skills and learn about staying safe online. We hope you enjoy finding out about what we get up to in school. Please check back often and leave us a comment.
