Olympic Torch Run

On Tuesday 26th June,  Ciara Ennis, one of the Olympic torch bearers came to Gordon Primary with her torch.

Pupils were asked to donate £2, if they wanted to have their photos taken holding the olympic torch.  “It was very exciting,” said Tasmin from P4a, “because it is the first time I have seen an olympic torch in my life.”

The whole school (apart from P7s ,who are at Glenshee) then took part in a lap around the school playing field behind Ciara who was holding the Olympic Torch.

The money collected from the photographs will be donated to school funds.

Thank you Ciara!

The olympic torch

On Thursday the Olympic torch came to Gordon primary.   Jamie Law and Angela Shearer, Olympic Torch bearers, came with the Olympic torch and told us how they got nominated for holding it.

Angela got nominated by Graham Esson who owns  Costcutter in Huntly because she of her work organizing  the Relay for Life for cancer research UK because she lots her granny and a good friend to cancer .

Jamie got nominated by someone who worked in a hospital because Jamie had a stroke. He told us how excited he was at carrying and how proud he was when he was walking with the torch.

Angela and Jamie told us they felt very felt lucky and honoured to be chosen and they would always remember the experience. They said they would put the torch in a special place and pass it on to their children.
