Here at Southesk we celebrate successes both in school and outwith. We are always keen to hear what our pupils are proud of at school, at home and in the community.
This page will feature some of our school and pupil successes. Please follow us on Twitter @SoutheskPs for even more celebrations!
Tesco – Bags of Help Award
In Summer 2017, we took part in the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ award scheme. We were lucky enough to win this and secured £12,000 of funding to develop and enhance our Wildlife Garden. With this money we hired local companies to clear the area and create new paths throughout the Garden. We have purchased a log cabin, seating areas and raised planters. We have also purchased various outdoor resources for our pupils to use while learning in and around the Wildlife Garden.
Coffee Club
Each Friday our Over and Above certificate winners bake with Mrs Bell ready for Coffee Club. The children can also invite a VIP guest to Coffee Club where they share their achievements for going Over and Above and eat the delicious cakes baked that morning. The children can then take their guest to their classroom to showcase their learning.
Burns Poetry Winners
Each January, our pupils learn and recite a Scottish poem. We then invite judges from the local community to come in and they select the winner from each class. The Montrose Burns Club donate £50 to go towards buying a book for each winner. This year Nursery and P1-P3 received a Scots Fairy Tale book and P4-P7 won a Roald Dahl or Harry Potter novel translated into the Scots language.
Football
We have both girls and boys football teams at Southesk who participate in cluster and Angus festivals and leagues.
