WW2 Trail

Primary 7G/T went on a trail around Rousemount area of Aberdeen to learn more about WW2. They learned about the similarities and differences of the streets and houses today compared to WW2. They got to sit in a real air raid shelter! It was very dark and cold inside but fascinating to be sitting on a seat where someone had sat during an air raid in WW2.

WW2 Research

Primary 7G and Primary 7T completed research units about World War 2 with Mr Patterson. They looked at many artefacts brought in, and completed research about shelters, women in the war, rationing, air raids within Aberdeen, schools, identity cards, helmets and many others. Primary 7 pupils will have the opportunity to visit an air raid shelter in Aberdeen next week on their trip.

SSPCA

Primary 7G enjoyed a visit from the SSPCA. They were learning about animals and how to look after them. They also played a game which provided scenarios in a rehoming centre which they had to discuss with each other.

Science- Properties of Water

In Science, Primary 7 have been learning about the properties of water. They have been learning the terms; hydrophobic, hydrophilic, density, cohesive, adhesive, polar and universal. They completed some experiments to investigate and identify the different properties of water.

Hour of Code

As part of Computing Science Education Week Primary 7G were leaning about coding. They were learning about algorithms, decomposition and debugging. They were able to program and debug a Bee Bot using their algorithm. Their algorithm had to trace out the shape of each numeral 0-9.

Next they will have to create a path using masking tape around the classroom and program their Bee Bot’s to follow this path.

Enterprise

Primary 7G have been working alongside Mr Cassells to build a successful polo shirt company. They have had to make very important decisions about their company spendature each week, such as; wages, selling price, number of workers, advertising cost, research and development cost, salesmen commission and market research. They have been designing web pages to support their company. The winning company will be announced next week!

Ethiopian Injera Bread

Both Primary 7 classes joined together to learn how to make Ethiopian Injera bread. This bread has featured many times in our class novel The Garbage King. Today we were mixing the ingredients and will leave over the weekend to prove. We used a flour called Teff flour.
