Literacy
Eyes on Words
This week we are making Eyes on Words lollipop sticks. Please try using this during reading homework this week. This will benefit your child in a number of ways-
- To follow text accurately
- To focus on letter sounds to blend and read words
- To cut out background distractions and look at the words we are reading
This is also more fun than using your finger! Try to make it a habit every time you read.
Punctuation
Discuss the different types of punctuation in your book and discuss how these change the way you read something. (For example full stop means you take a pause or exclamation mark you use a loud or excited voice). You might also see how many times you can find different punctuation marks.
Numeracy
We have begun learning about time, focusing on o’clock and half past on digital and analogue clocks. Follow the link below to the game-

Once you are confident with this move on to the game below (medium level)-

It is also useful to look at clocks within your own environment (at home, in the car…) When it is two o’clock for example you may ask your child if they can read the time.
Thank for your continued support Miss Moyes
