We celebrated Chinese New Year with our Mandarin teacher Isabella. We learned how to write Chinese characters in a traditional way and listened to a performance of a traditional Chinese instrument.
This week we have been studying the artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh. We drew Glasgow Roses, designed and constructed Rennie style chairs and created a collaborative colouring stained glass window.
Primary 4 are needing any old tinsel or Christmas Tree decorations that you you no longer need or use. Please hand in by then end of November to P4 or the office. All help greatly appreciated.
Today we learned all about the skills engineers need. We talked about;
1. Maths
2. Problem Solving
3. Team Work
4. Working to a deadline
5. Working to a budget
We played some games that needed these skills. One of the games was to lower a stick to the ground as a team. It was harder than it looked.
We we also played a game in which the aim was to get a ball from one side of the room to the other using pieces of a pipe.
We got to learn all about Mechanical Engineers today. We attended a drama workshop where we made our own sweetie production lines. We were making everything from Halloween sweets to bubblegum candy floss! Some of the groups even added sound effects to make them sound just like a machine. The lady who led the workshop could not believe how good we were.
This week we are being visited by Engineer N Our Lives.

Today we made gliders with Miss Petrie. We used paper straws so that they are environmentally friendly. We tested them outside.
Today we were problem solving. We were playing the game ‘Showtime’. We were trying to find 12 different ways we could make a total of 4 with our cubes. We identified that we were going to have to ‘ act it out’ in order to solve the problem.

Today we had our sponsored bounce today. It was so much fun. We are raising money for our OAP Christmas lunch. Mrs Lumsden and Mrs Boyd raced on the obstacle course and Mrs Lumseden won by a mile because Mrs Boyd could not stop laughing.

On a Friday we visit the library. This gives us a chance to change our books if we want to. It’s a lovely environment to read in.
