P3/4-5 pupils listened to a story about taking responsibility for your actions.

P6-7 watched a report of a boy’s experience of racism and discussed the importance of including everyone.

This week is Anti-Bullying Week.  Under the theme of ‘respect‘, Martin from Hillview Church talked about how words can be used to both help and hurt.  All pupils will discuss issues around bullying in their classes.

This week we were reminded about keeping healthy by  handwashing to avoid the spreading of germs.

This week, firework safety was highlighted for all P3/4-7 pupils.

In P6-7 assembly this week, we watched  ‘Lara’s Little Lie’ and discussed how it was better to be responsible and tell the truth.

As part of being healthy, P3/4-5 watched and discussed ‘What Makes Me, Me?’.

At both assemblies pupils had the opportunity to talk about what had happened at Cults Academy the day before.

Here are our P6-7 pupils noted for their achievements in Term 1:

Everyone will have experienced success this term, but here are our pupils specifically noticed for their achievements.

P6-7 classes watched and discussed ‘Healthy Eating’ learning clip where a mother encourages her son to make healthy food choices in order to have a balanced diet.  This could have been included under ‘Healthy’ but we agreed on NURTURED.

We also watched and discussed ‘House Rules’ about a group of friends who don’t respect boundaries – one friend sends a ‘joke’ text about one of the group, and another reads a friend’s diary.  We thought this was about being RESPECTED.

In ‘Avenger’, Gareth had become good friends with Jake but then did an impression of him to make others laugh which Jake saw.  Jake is not willing to forgive him and has said, “This is war!”

P3/4-5 classes watched and discussed the film ‘Lost and Found’.  It’s about a boy who finds a penguin at his door and decides to take him back to the South Pole. We decided that the film had all the ingredients needed to help people (and penguins!) grow – love, care, friendship, trust, respect and a sense of belonging – so comes under NURTURED.
