P3/4-5 ASSEMBLIES MAR-APR 2016
Our assemblies have included:
- enjoying watching and listening to the achievements of P3/4, P4C and P4B as they shared their learning about Vikings and Romans
- respecting the beliefs of others as we learned about the Hindu festival of Holi
- thinking about being responsible and making good decisions after watching ‘Judge Jenny’ and the Fairytale Court Room. We decided Jack was innocent!

P3/4-5 Assemblies February 2016
In P3/4-5 assemblies this month –
* we watched the story of Mr Men’s ‘Mr Small’ and discussed how just because he is small doesn’t mean he can’t have the same opportunities as everyone else, that he should be included and treated equally. We saw how one class in another school all learned sign language to include one of their classmates. Mr Birch came and taught us some sign language too.
*as part of Children’s Mental Health Week we discussed ‘resilience’ and watched the story of Gerald in ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance.’ Gerald wants to join in the animal dance but they laugh at him. He is encouraged by a friend and doesn’t give up and in the end dances in his own special way.
* we discussed how we are nurtured when we are young, being supported and encouraged to do the right thing. We watched some fables and thought about what lessons they teach us. After watching ‘The Lion and the Mouse’, Ben thought the message was that even if someone annoys us, it doesn’t mean we fight with them.
P6-7 Assemblies February 2016
In P6-7 assemblies this month
* as part of Children’s Mental Health Week we discussed ‘resilience’ and watched the story of Great Britain’s 400m runner Derek Redmond, whose hamstring snapped during his event but was determined to finish the race at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games
* we discussed how being nurtured involves being supported and encouraged in early life so that we can later make the right choices. We had good fun thinking about some moral dilemmas!
* we continued the story of ‘Avenger’ where Jake’s bullying of Gareth reached new heights but new girl Alice appears to now be on Gareth’s side. Gareth is beginning to feel more respected and included.

P6-7 Assemblies January 2016
P3/4-5 ASSEMBLY 10 DEC
P6-7 ASSEMBLIES 10 DEC
P3/4-7 ASSEMBLIES 3 DEC
In both assemblies this week, we discussed what being active means.
P6-7 watched a programme from Ask Lara where two friends become hooked on computer games, so much so that they miss out on fun events with their friends.
P3/4-5 were physically active! We had great fun learning moves to different songs.
