Primary 6 have been working hard this term to make good choices in and around the school. The class decided that the reward for filling the Good Choice Jar would be a ‘Picnic and Play’ at Hazlehead Park. A good time was had by all!

Primary 6 had a visit today from our Police Scotland School Liaison Officer – Seb Cook.
He came to give us all a better understanding of what alcohol is and the influence it can have on people. We were also reminded of what to do in an emergency situation involving alcohol or otherwise.
Yesterday, all the P6’s from Fernielea took part in a cricket festival at Aberdeenshire Cricket Club.

This week, Primary 6B took part in the Aberdeen Music Festival Competition at the Beach Ballroom. We worked really hard to perfect our songs with the guidance of our Singing Instructor, Mr Thomson.
After we performed, we were delighted to be announced the winners from our division and received the highest grading of ‘Outstanding’. We even received a certificate and a trophy!
So proud of all of our classes and the choir who competed in the Aberdeen Music Festival today. Especially delighted for P6B who were awarded an ‘Outstanding’ grade and won their group #proud #sing #happysafeachieving pic.twitter.com/05IL2ud7xc

We also learned how to correctly put on a bandage and sling! We have gained lots of new knowledge and skills, as well as having lots of fun too!
In Science this term, P6B have been looking at the different systems which make our bodies work. This week, we focused on the bones which work together to make up our skeletal system.
We started by identifying where some of the of the main bones in our bodies are located – we worked in teams to see how quickly we could do it!
Today, Primary 6B started to investigate simple healthy breakfast options using foods from different sections of the Eatwell Plate.
We prepared our ‘banana pops’ in a short time and enjoyed them very much! Find the ingredients and recipe here for you to try at home:
Yesterday, Primary 6B had the first of several cricket sessions they will be getting this term.
We worked together to learn how to throw a cricket ball and how hold and swing a cricket bat. Have a look for yourself!

Today, Mrs Bennett’s dad (Mr Forno), came in to show the class some fascinating items! These included: a huge variety of ammonites and even a REAL dinosaur egg!
He told us lots of information about them and answered all our questions we asked – it was all really interesting to see some of these rare things so close up!
Thank you for visiting to share these amazing articles Mr Forno!
