Sports

As part of our Scotland topic some of the children said they would like to learn about sports.  We decided to focus on sports that are either popular or originated in Scotland.

We have had fun playing rugby, football, tennis, golf and ‘tossing the caber’.

Where does our food come from?

We have been learning about where our food comes from.  We learned that potatoes, carrots and turnips are a root vegetables and they grow under the ground.

Scotland

Our main topic this term has been Scotland.

We have been painting the Saltire.

Some of us can now identify Aberdeen on a map of Scotland and find Scotland on a world map.

We have been learning about tartan and trying on kilts.

We created our own tartan by using paint, paper or designing one on the computer.

We have been exploring Scottish castles.

We painted Nessie in the Loch and Scotland’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis.

Scottish dancing has been great fun – dancing in groups and with a partner.

Wednesday Wander does Christmas

The boys and girls made some lovely invitations to invite their families into the early learning classes to make a craft with them, for the three Wednesdays leading up to Christmas.  On week one, the children made Christmas trees using paper plates. Week two, saw the children making shortbread and mince pies to serve with some juice.  One class made Christmas cards with their families and the other decorated salt dough tree decorations.
