Afternoon trip to Crathes Castle

The afternoon Early Learning classes had their turn to visit the grounds of Crathes Castle.  We were blessed with another lovely sunny day and a good time was had by all. We explored the wildlife garden, saw some newts in the pond, went in ‘Rapunzel’s Tower’, found lots of different bugs on our hunt with the rangers and had a picnic lunch.  We also had time to have fun and games on the grass and at the adventure playground.  We were all very tired by the time we got back to Fernielea.  Once again, thank you so much to all our parent helpers, without your support the trip would not have been possible.

Morning Trip to Crathes Castle

The early Learning morning classes went to Crathes Castle for their annual school trip.  We had an amazing day and the sun shone for us.  We went on a mini beast hunt with a ranger, had a picnic lunch, played ball games and explored  the wildlife garden.

Talking Boxes

This term we introduced ‘Talking Boxes’ to the early learning classes.  The children decorate a box and put in up to five items, of their choice, to talk about in front of the class.  The idea behind it is to give every child their chance to talk, improve their vocabulary and build on their confidence in a group situation.  It is also a way of teaching the other children to show respect when their classmate is talking, and to listen to them.  We are encouraging the children to ask questions at the end of each talk.

Thank you so much to the parents for helping the children to decorate their boxes.  We have been very impressed with your efforts.

World of Work Week

The children dressed up as their future self and told us what they would like to be when they had grown up.

We were very lucky during world of work week to have so many visitors coming in to tell us about their jobs.

Wallace is an offshore medic.  He told us about the clothing he needs to wear offshore to keep himself safe and the equipment he  uses.  He showed us a map of all the countries he has to visit as part of his job.
