Harlaw Technologies Morning

Today we visited Harlaw to learn more about the Technologies Department.

One of our tasks was to make fish key rings. First we drew around a fish template onto a piece of acrylic plastic. Next we drew and cut relief cuts using a coping saw. Then we cut out the shape of the fish. Finally we smoothed  the edges using files and then wet and dry abrasive cloth.

We also took part in a building challenge, to build the highest tower using one marshmallow and twenty pieces of spaghetti. The tower had to be free standing and the marshmallow had to be at the top of the tower. Other resources we were allowed to use were: instructions, scissors and tape.

Finally we made an advert to market our fish key rings. We had to think of a catchy slogan and display the colours which the key ring could come in.
