Broomhill School P5 Room 13

This week we have started to look at different examples of figurative language. We developed our knowledge of these by participating in a variety of stations. The stations were based on Alliteration, Metaphors, Similies, Personification and Rhyme. We will be using these over the next few weeks in our Big Writing poetry lessons.

I would like to thank all pupils and parents who very kindly gave me a lovely gift at Christmas time. It was very much appreciated, thank you. I wish you all a very happy and healthy 2017.

Miss Lamberton

For Christmas jumper day we designed our very own Christmas jumpers and made these to wear. We showed these off as we took part in a fashion show- look at us go on the cat walk!

Nieve spotted Elfy in our class on top of the school bell. Later in the day he was found on a makeshift aerial runway with candy canes.

Wow! What a performance from all the Primary 5 pupils. Each and every pupil sang beautifully and it was obvious that all the residents enjoyed the performances. When we returned to school we made Christmas cards for the residents for Miss Lamberton to deliver to the care home.

We were helping the P1s build chairs for their bears. We had to pair up with a P1 and half of us stayed in our class but the other half went down and stayed in the P1 class. Then we built the chairs with the junk the P1s brought in. Then we put the bears on the chairs. We enjoyed helping the P1s and the chairs looked great.

We all had a fantastic week taking on the roles of different engineers. We completed different challenges throughout the week to develop our understanding of engineering as a career.

We further developed our knowledge and understanding of the digestive system by taking part in a practical science activity. We made the digestive system out of play doh and also recreated the full digestive system using bananas, crackers and a pair of tights! Eww!

Some groups even carried out the demonstration to teach the boys and girls in Primary 2!  Continue Reading →
