Weekly Plan – week beginning 28.09.15

Please can we ask again that all clothing and equipment is clearly named. We already have a small collection of cardigans that noone has claimed!!!

MILK – Each day we have milk in our classroom. If you signed the milk letter at the start of term milk has been ordered for your child. However, if they do not wish to continue taking milk,  please let us know and we will amend our list. If you would like your child to have water at this time instead please provide a bottle of water, labelled with your child’s name, for them to drink. We will send this home each night for it to be washed thoroughly and refilled.

Sponsored walk – It is our parent council sponsored walk on Monday. Rooms 1 and 2 will be leaving first thing in the morning on an exciting walk around the Gramps. We hope it will be fine weather but please make sure your child has on a waterproof jacket and suitable footwear just in case. Please also ensure your child has a drink in school with them which we may take with us or have as soon as we come back.

Dan from South St Nicholas Church will be visiting our class on Wednesday.

On Thursday we will be visiting Kincorth Library to swap our books!

Reading – Your child will receive a new reading book on Monday and Wednesday. It would be extremely helpful if you could work with your child for a short time each night.

First night with the book – read the story together, look at the pictures and discuss what’s happening. Have a look at any words in the word pot and see if your child can find them in the text. Ask your child to read the text to you, supporting them when necessary. If they are stuck with a word, encourage them to sound it out, look for clues in the picture and the story.

On the second night see what they can remember about their book from memory. Ask them to read the text to you and then focus on words from the text, or in their pot, that they struggled with.
