On Thursday, the children will come home with a word pot containing 3 words. These words are the names of 3 of the book characters, Biff, Chip and Kipper. Please help your child to learn to recognise these words as they will soon be appearing in the reading books.

The initial books coming home only have pictures. Please take some time to discuss the pictures with your child and build up the story. We will be looking at the books in class before the children bring them home.

Please ensure the word pot and reading book are brought to school in the book bag EVERY DAY.

Today we were matching the sounds learned so far to our alphabet board. Then we made some words! Aren’t we clever!

The boys and girls  began Jolly Phonics today with the “S” sound as in sand, scissors & salt.

Please help your child to cut out pictures of things beginning with “S”  and stick them in their home/school book for tomorrow (Tuesday). 

On Wednesday we will be investigating the “a” sound. Please help your child as above. 

Another way to help your child with sound recognition is to help  them find the “s” and “a” sounds in a newspaper and highlight them ot circle them with a felt pen.
