Funday Friday!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Hope you have all had a great week and have an awesome weekend. Hopefully the weather is nice!

———————————————————————————-

Here is some songs to dance along with:

Stay safe and enjoy your weekend!

Sticks are magic.

Magic wands are amazing, the most magical thing you can find in the woods today.

How can you find a magic wand I hear you ask?

Well, let me tell you a secret, each magic wand is only magic because of how it is made.

First, you must find a stick as long as your arm.

Once you have found your stick you will need some string or elastic bands, (double-sided sticky tape will also work)

Next, you need to search around for magical (natural) items that will give your wand special powers. ( I like big leaves and colourful flowers)

Once you have collected your magical items you need to ask an adult to help you tie or stick them on your stick. They can be all over your stick to help it be super magical.

Each item adds to the magic, so put lots on.

Now you need a magic word, the magic word can be anything but only the person holding their wand can decide what their magic word is.

Ready, steady… let’s hear those magic words and you can cast a spell.

If you have any ribbon or fabric then you could attach that to your wand too and watch it blow in the wind.

Be careful not to turn any brothers or sisters into frogs!

Share your magic words and wands with us on ILD.

x Stay safe.

Life cycle of a butterfly

Hello Everyone.

I hope you have had a fab week so far. This week I found a butterfly in my kitchen, fluttering around. As we looked at the life cycle of a frog last week, I thought we could look at a butterflies life cycle.

———————————————————————————

The video below has lots of interesting information, did you know a butterfly tastes with its feet? How strange.

Some of our pre-schoolers will remember this song from last year:

———————————————————————————–

Can you create your own butterfly?

You could use items from your house, garden or you could draw or paint one? You could also ask your grown ups to upload your butterfly to ILD.

Our Story today has to be, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

How would you feel if you ate everything the very hungry caterpillar ate?

I hope you enjoy todays videos, songs, activities and story.

Stay Safe.

Pebble Power!!!

I am a constant collector. I go for walks and pick up pebbles and stones everywhere I go.

I have a stack of big stones at my front door and many baskets and jars of different colours through my house.

But what can we do with these stones other than put them in a jar or leave them in a basket?

Can you stack your stones?

This helps build up hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as well as dealing with problem-solving. It doesn’t have to be a huge stack of stones, even two or three is impressive.

Can you use your stones as treasure and hide them from your Mum or Dad?

You could tap some other stones together if they get close to finding your treasure, stop tapping when they get further away. Maybe the tapping can get louder when they are really really close to the treasure.

Can you use your stones for maths and art?

Drawing a white line on all your stones, whether its a wiggly line or straight line. Then try and problem solve and make a picture.  Maybe you could make a shape or maybe even the first letter of your name.

Can you make your stones into Story Stones?

We love stories in nursery. You could make your own story stones like in the picture. You could download some pictures or draw your own and tell your family your favourite stories.

The Artful Parent (www.artfulparent.com) loves making story stones if you wish for some tips and hints.

Can you organise your stones into different sizes or colours?

This uses problem solving and maths, not only are there so many different ways to organise a collection there is also no right or wrong way. Big to small, tiny to teeny-tiny, the different colours.

However you play with your stones and pebbles, please share your ideas on ILD and on twitter.

x stay safe.

Monday 8th June

Hello everyone,

I hope you all have thumbs up and had a great weekend.

It was lovely seeing the children who attended the Google Meets last week. If you want to take part please contact a member of staff and we will add you into a group.

Here is a story about seeing your friends and not being able to touch them and how you can let them know you still care for them.

I was going to post an outdoor activity, but was unsure how the weather would be. I have decided to ask you if you think you can make a tent/den.This can be made indoors or if it is nice you can make it outdoors.

One of our friends has already made a fantastic den with their big brother. What do you think? isn’t it  fabulous!

We would love to see your creations.

Transition Week 5

Hello Everyone,

Information

This week we have photos of our awesome Buddies. We will continue to work with our Buddies next year when we move into Primary 1.  Have a look through them and see if you can recognise anyone.

Our Buddies

Challenge

Do you know the letter sounds in your name?

This week we would like you to find objects that have the same letter sounds as the ones in your name.

If you do not know all your letter sounds that is okay. Just find items for the ones you do know.

Example.

Name Sam – Straw, Apple, Monkey

Or Strawberry, Slipper, Sock

Question

I am looking forward to or excited about??

This can be anything you think will happen at Primary1 or in the school. If you’re grown up writes down what you say and can post it on your ILD or emails them to the nursery staff.

As always, we would love to see photos or videos of the challenge being completed.
