As part of our project on Africa the children were asked to choose and research an African country. Each group had criteria they had to meet. The children were asked to display their work as a wall display.

Busy, Busy Week!
What a busy week in P7M! The boys and girls have been working very hard. We have been learning about Africa as part of our project. This week we have started to research different countries in Africa and each home team has a wall display to create. We have also been working hard this week to earn credits for good work and behaviour. Some of the boys have already spent some of their credits on choosing the games we play in PE.
We have also started raising money for our leavers jumpers through our enterprise called Toasty Tuesday. We have raised over £40 so far!
This afternoon Family Time was cancelled so Mrs Macdonald set up the PS3 and we started a Just Dance competition. We have some amazing dancers in class, especially Jack and Glen.
We have a busy week again next week.
Remember indoor shoes everyone and remember to dress up on Thursday for World Book Day.
Athletics Festival
Fundraising
We have lots of fundraising to do for our end of term jumpers, prom and trips. Does anyone have any good ideas. Remember to discuss it at home and come to class tomorrow full of ideas.
If any of our parents or carers can help. Please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Africa
Today in class we were learning about Africa and how it is a continent made up of lots of countries. We were given a task where we had to use lots of jigsaw pieces of the countries that make up Africa and had to use them to create a big map. It was much harder than it looked.
Tomorrow we will de-brief the task to see how we all got on in our groups.
Amazing Art!!
Reading Radio
An email from Lesley at SHMU
Congratulations to Lauren, Shannon, Connor, Aiden and the whole
class on producing such a brilliant Reading Radio show this morning – I
hope everyone is really proud of their work and that you all enjoyed the
show!
Quarryhill’s show is now available on SHMU’s website at
http://www.shmu.org.uk/radio/schedule-thursday.shtml (scroll down to
11am – Reading Bus and click on ‘listen to previous show’ link) until it
is replaced by the new Reading Radio show next Thursday.
(It will also be archived on the Reading Bus website at
http://www.readingbus.co.uk/drupal/radio – where it will remain
indefinitely! – just as soon as some of the old content is removed and
extra space is created, hopefully later this week…)
Many thanks for your commitment and enthusiasm for the project!
Best wishes,
Lesley

The Burns Supper
On the 24th January the P7s held a Burns Supper for their parents and Friends of Quarryhill primary school. The haggis was piped in by Aaron from Harlaw Academy. Jordan and Ciara did the Address to The Haggis. Then we and the parents and friends ate haggis, neeps and tatties.
Some of the class did toasts to Robert Burns and they were Lauren, Brooklyn, Glen, Paul, Jade and Olivia. Then after they did the toasts we had to sing two songs called Flower O Scotland and Letter from America. After that we chatted to our parents and friends and then we went back up to class. On Friday the whole class had to sing a Letter from America and Flower o Scotland in assembly.
