School Uniform – Info & Ordering

New School Uniform

As previously informed, the new school uniform will take effect from August.  There will be a phasing in process with all pupils expected to wear the uniform as from January 2015.

Parents will no longer be able to buy their uniform from the school.  Instead you will be able to purchase items directly from WCS Scotland Ltd (also known as The Dugout) at 689 George St, Aberdeen.

Your child has been given an order form.  These can be posted, handed in or scanned and emailed to the supplier directly.  If you are unsure of sizes, examples of these will be on display in the main entrance of the school or you can be advised by the shop.

The new uniform is as follows:

  • Royal blue sweatshirt, cardigan or v-neck sweatshirt
  • white polo shirt
  • black/grey trousers, skirt or pinafore
  • black shoes
  • grey/black socks/tights

If you have any queries please contact the management team.

Active Schools Fun Run

Well done to all the children who took part in the Active Schools Fun Run series. Over the course of 4 weeks, children from across Aberdeen came together at venues across the city.  The following children from Ferryhill took part:

P4 – Bryony Anderson

P5 – Jamie Evans, Etienne Kemp, Reece Main

P6 – Cai Shepherd, Archie Whyte,  Mac Guy, Matthew Dunhill, Philip Sinclair, Catriona Lang

P7 – Tom Whitehouse, Lizzy McCall

They all ran at least 3 races, mostly with times greatly improving over the series, and they got a well-earned medal for their efforts.

Tom, Lizzy, Mac, Catriona and Jamie all qualified for the ‘Champion of Champions’ race, a fantastic event with Ferryhill runners looking smart in their new t shirts, and Ferryhill parents giving the best support of all. Lizzy came first in the P7 girls event, and Mac got third, despite some very strong competition, in the P6 boys event. Well done!

Staffing News

Staffing News

We have some teaching staff leaving us this year.

Firstly, we would like to let you know that Miss Linskaill has been successful at interview and has been appointed to a Depute Head Teacher post in Glasgow. As a result she will not be returning to Ferryhill School, as planned, from her secondment which was due to end this month.

Mr McGregor and Miss Hutcheon are also leaving us this summer to take up posts at other primary schools in Aberdeen.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their hard work that they have given to Ferryhill School and wish them well in their new posts.

We also have some new staff joining us.

We would like to welcome Miss Skinner who will be teaching our P4/5 class. Mr Timmins who will be teaching our P3/4 class and Miss Ali who will be teaching one of our P2 classes.

Finally, we would like to congratulate Mr Miah and Miss Burnett who were successful at interview and are now permanent members of the staff team here at Ferryhill.

If there are any other changes in our staffing we will let you know in due course.

P7 Show

Pirates of the Curry Bean

P7 perform the family show ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’ on Wednesday 2 July at 7pm.

Tickets, which include refreshments, are now on sale from the P7 classroom:

Adult £1.50 Child 50p

Order forms were sent home last week but there are spares at the office, if required.

We hope to see many of you there!

Appeal for old sweatshirts & foreign coins

Please save all your grey and green school sweatshirts, there will be a collection at the start of September.

The charity F.R.O.M. Scotland  (fromscotland.org.uk) would like them. They will send them to children who live in Malawi.

Also, if anyone is going abroad in the holidays the PTA are collecting foreign coins, so if you have any spare why not bring them to school next term.

Money raised from the coins goes into the funds to buy things for the school.

Thank You
