Colourful Clothes Day

This term the Charities Committee have decided that they wanted to invite pupils and staff to come to school on Friday 9th October in Colourful Clothes.

All pupils and staff who participate are asked to donated £1 which will go towards helping a local cancer charity – Maggie’s.

The committee selected to help Maggie’s as it supports local families who are affected by cancer.

Boys and girls, and staff, are asked to come to school with their school uniform on but they should try to

‘make their face funny for money’.

Some ideas would be to wear funny glasses

or to wear a moustache.

They could even paint their faces and wear a wig!  Anything goes!

The children will be asked to pay a £1 to take part and this money will go straight to Comic Relief.

We will post lots of photos to show how much we have.

We are taking a whole school selfie on the day too – this will show everyone our fabulous faces!

We are learning the Red Nose Day song – Put on a Funny Face.

Somebody Cares Harvest Collection

Well done to all of you!

Due to your generosity we were able to take a large amount of food to the Somebody Cares collection point in Summerhill.

The P7s helped to sort the food before delivery and they also walked with the Green Nursery children to deliver the food.  We met Jenny who explained what they do and how the food will help families in our local community.

Jeans for Jeans Day 2014

We all had great fun at school on Jeans for Genes Day.  Everyone came in denim and we raised a lot of money for the charity.

Each class brought in spare coppers and they tried to cover a pair of jeans using the pennies collected.  Some classes estimated how much they had collected and there was a lot of counting going on!

The final total has not been tallied yet as we are STILL counting the coppers.  We have just topped £400 at the moment which is amazing!  Thank you all very much.

The Winner of the Pooh Bear was….

Pooh’s birthday was 13th May.  Thank you to all who participated.

Jeans for Genes Day

Jeans for Genes Day

Wednesday 17th September 2014

Everyone is invited to take part in Fernielea’s Jeans for Genes Day by wearing jeans or denim to school for £1 donation.  Wearing your jeans will make a difference for children with genetic disorders, so they can get the care and support they deserve.

The Charities Committee would also like you to bring in your spare ‘coppers’.  The 1p and 2p coins will be used to fill in outlines of pairs of jeans.  Some classes think they can fill 2 pairs of jeans with ‘coppers’!

All money collected on the day will go to the Jeans for Genes charity.
