We Are Back!

Macmillan Cancer Support homepage

The Charities Committee have swooped into action already this term and they have raised £276 for Macmillan  Cancer Charity by asking pupils to dress as they please on Friday 30th September.  They also organised a design competition which attracted lots of entries.

Well done everyone!

The next challenge is to collect books for Home-Start.  So, start looking out children’s books, in good condition and bring them into school during the first week back.

Sport Relief 2016

The Charities Committee invite all pupils to join in their event for Sport Relief.  On Friday 18th March all pupils are invited to come to school wearing comfortable sports clothing to take part in their

NO RUN-a-thon.

The NO RUN-a-thon is a circuit of the playground completed by all pupils – but they are not allowed to run! They can hop, jump, skip, waddle, cartwheel, roll, walk backwards, fairy step – as long as they don’t run! It should be great fun!

To take part in the day’s event, children will be asked to donate £1.00 to Sport Relief.

We will also be selling Sport Relief wrist bands for £1.00 from Monday 14th onwards.  These will be on sale before school in the foyer and also at lunchtimes.  They will be sold on a first come first served basis.

We are also learning the Sport Relief Song.  Click on the link to the song and video.

Christmas Collection

Our Christmas collections from the Christmas Show raised £367.16!  This is going to the charity that we nominated which is the British Heart Foundation.

The staff collected £34.00 too so that is being added to the amount and so in total, we are donating £401.16!

Well done and thank you for your generosity.

Some fun advice when dressing as a hero:

DIY guide to the ultimate superhero costume

Here are some quick steps on how to make your very own superhero costume!

  1. Choose a pair of brightly coloured shorts to wear over leggings for the traditional superhero look.
  2. Draw and paint or colour in your personalised super symbol – this could be absolutely anything from your initials to something that reflects your superhero identity. Pin the paper or card shield to the front or back of a plain t-shirt. Use silver foil or stick glitter around the edges to make it stand out.
  3. Make a superhero eye mask with a pair of tights, a piece of fabric or card. Customise with glitter or sequins for a sparkly look or other embellishments to suit your superhero identity.
  4. Make a cape using an old sheet, bin liner or colourful beach towel. Cut into a wonky hourglass shape and add tape or string to tie it around your neck, or sew it onto your t-shirt.
  5. Attach your paper or card super symbol to a headband or piece of fabric to tie around your head.
  6. Create a utility belt with a fabric belt and tape. Attach some of your super utensils to it and spray with metallic paint to make them look extra super.
  7. Put on colourful knee-high socks (e.g. sports socks) or cut up a pair of tights to accompany thepants over leggings look.
  8. Wear a pair of wellies or wrap coloured duct tape around your shoes for the super cool look.
  9. To give your look a touch of Pudsey power, get yourself a pair of Pudsey ears, available from our online shop or partners on the high street!
