I very much enjoyed meeting everyone who was able to attend our Open Evening and look forward to our parent interviews next term.

‘Bridges to Schools’

We really enjoyed our ‘Bridges to Schools’ experience with engineers from ICE! It certainly helped to ‘build’ our confidence in technology! We enjoyed working as a team to meet the challenge of building a bridge that we could walk over. Some of the roles we took on were, cable people, bolt people, joints’ people and lifting people. At the end of the workshop, we got to walk along the bridge. It was thrilling! Mrs. Stewart and Mrs. Mutch also went across.

Visit from Roy Stewart

After meeting Roy Stewart (Mrs Stewart’s husband) we feel that we have learned a lot about how to be a self-employed business person.  It was interesting to discover that, before he got into photography and filming, he trained as an architect.  All of P7 really enjoyed how he let us dance to the bagpipe music during his film- it put us in a fabulous mood!  We also liked when we asked him questions about his career.  His answers were really interesting-and we got to use a microphone! We also got to see his professional cameras which were really amazing!  We were able to see a lot of his creations which were all brilliant! There were lots of funny jokes that he made, too.  It was a fantastic learning experience!

Paired Reading with P1

Our Primary 1 buddies are now in school full time. We have enjoyed helping them to feel at home and become independent at break and lunch times. Today, we are starting paired reading with P1M.  We are really excited and looking forward to being with them and trying to be good role models.  Some of our buddies are in that class, so it will be good to see them and ask them how they are getting on.

Update-since we wrote our blog, we have had our first reading session which we are happy to say was a great success.  Our buddies are doing well. We can’t wait for the next one!
